I have lost two stone in 6 weeks!!

Posted on Thursday, August 12th, 2010

I was recomended to elite via a friend as I wanted to get fit and try something i have always wanted to do. I was visiting a gym 3 times a week with no actual goal or direction, i found i was putting weight on and getting no muscular definition. I was encouraged to come and take a look round and use the free lesson i was offered. after the first session i was hooked and signed up their and then. I found the gym had a friendly atmosphere. I found that the coaches have a very good knowledge of fitness and nutrition as well as boxing, i asked what my personal goal was and they assissted me in completing this.

I joined elite about 4 months ago to loose weight and gain fitness which i acheived as I lost 2 stone in the first 6-8 weeks aswell as getting muscular definition. Once my fitness was at a reasonable level i was able to really enjoy learning a sport i have grown up watching. As there is only around 6 people per lesson you feel that you are really getting one to one focus from the trainer which motivates you even more. You undertake so many different excersises the lessons dont get boring as you do so many different things. I was given help in acheving my goals as the trainers provided me with a diet plan which helped me shed weight effectivley over a period of time therefore keeping the weight off.

Whilst training you are pushed beyond your limits and you really do feel the benefit of pushing your self through the pain barrier. You soon really reap the benefits and notice the changes in your body!

I really can not stress the advantages of joining Elite, you will not be disapointed! There are all ages and all levels of fitness in the gym yet you are worked with to reach your goal. Whatever your aim is the trainers will work with you and you will achieve it!

You really have to take advantage of the first free lesson you will not regret it!!

AARON MOON

I am a serving member of the Royal Marine Commandos and was unfortunately injured whilst on active service in Afghanistan. I was told there is a chance of never walking again but through determination a year later I was back on my feet. Still not walking brilliantly and still facing the possibility of never being able to run again I was told I would be able to ride a bike. When I heard this I decided I would like to give something back for those who like me get seriously injured. A charity bike ride was the only way to go and decided it would be 125 miles from Gretna Green back to Bolton. However still suffering from pain and finding it hard to find motivation to train the guys at Elite stepped in and offered to train me to help build my fitness not only for my bike ride but to help aid in my rehabilitation. From day one when I started training at elite I was made to feel very welcome and the adapted all my training to suit me with my injuries never pushing me to do something that may hurt but always pushing me to get fitter. The training is fun and progressive and definitely enjoyable.

Now 125 miles and few pains and aches later I have managed to complete the bike ride all thanks to the fitness the guys at elite helped me to gain. All I can really add to that is great place to train with the best bunch of lads to train you around thanks elite

Joining Elite is one of the best decisions that I have made in a very long time and I would challenge anyone who joins not to feel the same.

As a female I have always thought that boxing was strictly a man’s sport, I was very wrong! It is a brilliantly skilled sport that is about focus, determination and coordination which are attributes that can be applied to all aspects of daily life.

I have been a member of nearly every gym in Bolton on and off for the last ten years and Elite is leagues ahead in terms of professionalism, motivation and results. The gym is unique to all other gyms because of its personal approach to fitness .

The staff are on personal terms with each and every member and are able to cater to each individuals requirements and ability. The staff are always keen to receive feedback and will adapt lessons depending upon the groups/individuals strengths and weaknesses. The sessions are always varied and well planned combining loads of boxing technique with cardio-vascular exercise. The instructors are really helpful and well informed but most of all are approachable. I have recently received both diet and fitness advice which has proved invaluable.

Since I joined Elite my fitness levels have increased dramatically ,I have more energy, I am a lot more toned and I have started to lose weight! I now attend the women’s class twice a week and have just increased from one member session a week to two sessions a week.

I genuinely can’t say enough good things about Elite Boxing, all I can say is do not be put off if you have never boxed before, I hadn’t until a few months ago and now I am hooked! The first lesson is free and so you really have nothing to lose…apart from a few excess pounds.

I`m 57 now and recently changed my working arrangements. I had always kept fairly fit and active but was looking for something more disciplined , more demanding and if possible tailored to my requirements…..I didnt want a big impersonal health club where I could join a large class or just push the machines.

I heard about Elite and made a visit…first thing is its a proper gym and the atmosphere is right , staff are friendly and professional and you are made welcome…if you`ve never boxed before ( like me ) its no problem , in fact it probably works better that way. The key thing for me though is that the training is built around me and what I want to get out of it. I get “one to one” but classes are never more than 6 .

I strongly recommend you visit the gym , have a look round and talk to the staff. I`ve been going for about 6 weeks now and I`m certainly fitter and my boxing technique is improving ( slowly !)

HGV Shift Worker Testimonial

An opportunity to take part in the ‘24 hour Three Peaks Challenge’ came up at work and I needed to get fit fast.

I have been a member of several gyms in the past and found myself unmotivated and unchallenged after only a few months.

Having found Elite Boxing’s website, I decided to come and take a look around the gym.  I found the staff very welcoming and knowledgeable and so decided to take advantage of the free lesson they offer.

My first lesson was a one-on-one session and was a real motivator with superb tuition.  I was hooked straight away and decided to join there and then.

I now go twice a week.  I am currently into my sixth week of training and have already lost a stone in weight.  I feel fitter than I have in years and have started to learn a range of boxing skills.

The gym has a real buzz and the staff are really encouraging and are keen to get the best out of you.

I would highly recommend Elite Boxing as a fantastic way of getting fit, losing weight and learning a new skill.

I Was Made To Feel Really Welcome

I began boxing about years ago. My aim was to get fit and also be able to protect myself. I use to spend the majority of my time doing cardio in the gym which not only got boring but wasn’t any results. Boxing has made me feel fitter and more toned it has also raised my confidence; another big factor is that I’m still not bored.

It was quite daunting joining a boxing gym as it is considered a typically male sport but I was made to feel really welcome by the instructors and by the other people I trained with.

I started training once a week, and found I enjoyed it so much I started training twice a week I now train three times a week.

I was apprehensive that i could get hurt but that has never been the case. Even though boxing is considered an aggressive sport, no one at elite is aggressive towards one another in fact there’s a friendly atmosphere in the gym, everyone is there learning a controlled technical skill, getting fit and having a good workout.

The instructors are encouraging and have a great balance between discipline and making the class fun. The classes are small so everyone gets personal attention and I love how flexible the class’s are with regards to days and times.

Everyone’s really friendly, there’s a great high energy atmosphere, and high quality teaching and you’re made to feel part of the team this is why I recommend Elite to anyone who’s interested in boxing or Thai boxing.

I didn’t have any plans to compete when I first started but I now want to test myself and I am training to fight.

Try It – You Will Not Be Disappointed!

ELITE boxing came highly recommended to me by a friend. I believe that a personal recommendation from a trusted friend is very important to a female contemplating taking up boxing because it is daunting to even enter a boxing gym – which it is a male dominated sport makes it even worse.

Elite did not disappoint. The gym’s members and instructors are all welcoming and down to earth so I easily and quickly settled into attending Elites evening classes on a regular basis.

I love keeping fit and sport is my passion. I regularly play netball, swim and attend spin classes….but I’ve always wanted to push myself more vigorously to enhance my fitness levels and as a personal challenge. I am therefore continually on the lookout for new, exciting and creative sports. The ladies only boxing is exactly what I have been looking for years.

I have always dreamed of learning to box. I am now living that dream.

The beauty of Elite is the opportunity for plenty of one-to-one training within a group setting. You are also pushed above and beyond your limits. It’s physically exhausting and mentally taxing but the resulting buzz is worth all the sweat and pain!

Your instructor takes note of your ability and each week he personalises a programme compatible with your fitness level and your progress.

After only 4 sessions I started to get the waist I have dreamed of! My fitness level has significantly increased and I come away from every class looking forward to the next one.
Try it – you will not be disappointed!

Louise Recommends The Women’s Only Classes

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009

After spending endless years and money joining flash gyms (and never going!) I decided I needed a real change to get my fitness where I wanted it to be. The gyms I had joined in the past always seemed to follow a certain pattern, with the novelty always wearing off within the first month or so. I also found them quite lonely and sombre kind of places, with most members often listening to IPOD’s and never giving each other the time of day.

I first heard about elite through a friend of a friend, so decided to go down to the women’s only session to give it a go. I have to admit, I was nervous as I got out the car and headed into the gym, but immediately felt at ease once I had entered. I anticipated herds of sweaty men spitting blood into buckets, but that thought couldn’t have been further from the truth!

The best way I could describe the feeling after my first session was that I really knew I had done something constructive. Yes I was tired and sore (especially the next day!) but to me I knew that I had really been pushed to my physical limits. Each week I could literally feel myself getting fitter and I really started to see that I was making progress. People used to talk about getting endorphins from exercise which I could never understand but now I truly know what that feels like. After about 6 weeks of attending the women’s session, I started going twice a week and that’s when I really noticed a change in the way I looked and felt.

The things I really love about training at elite are the variety of exercise and skills you gain, the motivation which is really important to me (and most women I know) and finally the superb crowd of people that train and run the gym. I’ve never felt so confident or enjoyed exercising so much in my life and can honestly say I’ll never go back to a conventional gym, not even if you paid me!

I Feel Fitter Than I Have EVER Been

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009

I first visited Elite, about 12 months ago, when I volunteered for a Charity White Collar Boxing Event, which Elite had volunteered to train a team of beginners for. I had a few aims when I started, firstly to learn a sport that I had always loved to watch, secondly to get fit, and thirdly to gain the confidence that being able to look after your self can provide.

Having never done any form of martial art or combat sport before, I was a little uneasy about my first visit to the club, because let’s face it, for a white collar, pen pusher like me, the typical boxing gym stereotype is a sweat pit, full of unfriendly locals with lots of grunting and testosterone flying round.

That picture couldn’t be further from the truth at Elite. Right from the word go, I felt welcome, encouraged and part of the club – despite being well below average in terms of fitness and skill level initially. This is a place, where you train in small groups, where the trainer knows everyone, their level and needs personally, and you are developed at the right pace for you.

Within these groups you are given one to one tuition in, boxing skills (with the focus on defense and not getting hit first, and offence second) as well as advice on nutrition, cardio training and strength / posture work.

A year into training at Elite, I’ve met a great group of people, I feel fitter than I have EVER been through playing football or pounding a treadmill, more knowledgeable about my body and how to look after it, and confident enough to spar with anyone in the gym – which in turn gives you a greater level of confidence outside it.

I couldn’t recommend Elite highly enough to anyone – no matter what sex orage or fitness level.

The Coaching Is Superb At Elite Boxing

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009

After several attempts at getting myself fit in the local gym’s and paying a membership but not bothering to go because”it’s boring” or “I’m tired” and numerous other excuses, I decided to try boxing training, as my age is a factor it wasn’t possible to go to the local youth centres to train I also would of been out of place I wanted to be in more of a personal one to one environment when I heard about Elite it sounded ideal.

My late father used to box and always told me ‘‘you have to be fit to box.’’ I already knew about the fitness because as a physiotherapist and qualified fitness instructor (lapsed) I treat all types of people, and I know how to fit they are. People seem to think boxing is about trying to knock your opponent’s head off. But I’ve been training about four months now and nobody has tried to knock my head off it’s not the way to learn. The training is more about fitness, coordination, focus, determination and self discipline.

The coaching is superb at Elite Boxing, they tailor the coaching to suit your needs and fitness and if you don’t feel you can do something tell them and they will change the exercise to suit you. The exercise is so varied you just don’t get fed up. There is no pressure to actually box if you are there just to get fit, I have a lot of fun though it is hard work especially as I’m the wrong side of fifty five. When I started I was unfit and overweight, but my fitness is coming back and my weight is gradually coming down .If you are over forty years of age I would recommend having a check up at your doctors before undertaking any exercise program.
