At the moment we have two ABA stars including an ABA junior champion and ABA finalist and also a four nations gold medal winner! the caliber of boxer is of a high level at the gym and it is only a matter of time before we have a champion training at the gym, if anybody is interested in helping us promote these fighters by way of sponsorship.

This was a huge step up for Chris as he has previously only boxed 4 x 3 minute rounds and took the fight at short notice, during his training at Elite Chris has improved massively due to the sparring and technique sessions that he has been put through at the gym, and also travelling to Olivers gym in Salford which is Alex Matvienko’s former professional club.

Chris showed plenty of skill and heart in this bout especially in the 6th round when he was caught with some big right hands and left hooks and rallied back with his own shots!!

Hopefully his next few performances will show the improvements he has made as his record doesn’t reflect his talent, his heart or the hard work he has put in the gym!! Its been a great journey for our club so far with only having our first professional boxers last year and will continue to improve with time and experience.

Another great success story of Elite is that one of our boxers Scott Molyneux (picture far left, with Matty Clarkson< Jonny Rocco and Chirs Jenkinson) who only started training in boxing 18 months ago has been helping un beaten professional boxer Matty Clarkson prepare for his up and coming 8th professional bout!!

This is great for Scott who has showed massive improvements in skill and fitness since he first came to the club and now boxes like an experienced pro!! its go’s to show if you put the hard work in what you can achieve and Scott is certainly not one to avoid putting the hard work in and always give’s one hundred per cent effort!!

We had a great night of sparring down at Tyson Furys gym after being invited to bring down some lads to help him prepare for his April 14th bout against Martin Rogan. At Elite Boxing in Bolton we have a lot of heavyweights at different levels with Scott Mitchell who is an ex professional heavyweight, Pavelas Nevedomskis who fights at super heavy in the amateurs, Stevie Taylor who is a good prospect at cruiser weight , Jack Kriels who will be boxing at heavyweight in the amateurs and has had just two amateur bouts in his home country of Latvia.

Everyone did extremely well with Tyson looking sharp and showing his class at times but this is great experience for any heavyweight as Fury is up the in the top ten heavyweights in the world, with sparring like this and our boxers performing so well the potential is definitely there at Elite Boxing.

The gym has lots of equipment and lessons are always fresh and new,working on technique as well as fitness and stamina and strength work.The unique thing about Elite Thai Boxing is the very small classes mean you get quality training and mistakes are rectified,you do not get lost “in the crowd” it is personnel training for a fraction of normal costs! They were the first to operate this way and it’s easy to book lessons on a computerised system.

My own story is a great successful one through Elite Thai Boxing,I came through the door overweight and unfit and had never heard of thai boxing,But one free lesson i was hooked! Over the years my weight has come down and my body shape has changed.I have improved vastly over the years in my thai boxing skills and have competed in several interclub bouts.I recently went for my asthma and general health check at my doctors as i am just short of 49 yrs old,My results were fantastic! I was told i have the lung capacity of a 25-30 yr old and my blood pressure is outstanding.The training works!!

I have tried out other thai boxing gyms in and around the area and none operate to the top level or system Elite have in place,You are not “lost” in a big class and you receive the instruction directly.Also,You are not pressured into a “uniform” like some gyms have.They have,gloves,T.shirts,shorts and other equipment at good prices if you require anything.

These sessions are aimed towards more fitness than boxing technique and there is definitely no sparring involved, so why not come down and give us a try?? each lesson is £5 and every lesson must be booked in advance. Unfortunately there is no free first lesson for this session.
